The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
