The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
