Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
