The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." 22
