(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
