The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky with its constellations, 1 and by the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 The companions of the pit were killed 4 Full of fire fed by faggots, 5 When they sat by it (fire), 6 And to that which they did to the believers were witnesses. 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. 9 Surely for those who persecute believers, men and women, and do not repent afterwards, is the punishment of Hell, and the punishment of burning. 10 Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success. 11 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. 12 Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, 13 He is the All-forgiving, the Most Loving One, 14 Lord of the Throne, the Glorious, 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Did the story of the armies reach you? 17 the armies of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! 19 Whereas Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 In the Preserved Tablet. 22
