The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
