And indeed Nooh prayed to Us – so what an excellent Acceptor of Prayer We are! 75 And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, 76 and caused his offspring to endure [on earth]; 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Peace be unto Noah among the peoples! 79 That is how We recompense the righteous: 80 he was among Our believing servants. 81 Then We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? 86 “So what do you assume regarding the Lord Of The Creation?” (That He will not punish you?) 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" 89 So turning their backs, they went away from him. 90 Then he slipped unto their gods and said: eat ye not? 91 What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. 93 Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). 94 He said, “What! You worship what you yourselves have sculpted?” 95 "But Allah has created you and your handwork!" 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 Abraham prayed, "Lord, grant me a righteous son". 100 whereupon We gave him the glad tiding of a boy-child gentle [like himself]? 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering); 103 We cried out: “O Abraham, 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 It was certainly an open trial. 106 Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim. 107 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: 108 "Peace upon Abraham." 109 Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 110 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 111 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among the offspring of the two some did good and some plainly wronged themselves. 113
