The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
