The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
