The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
