The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the swollen sea 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
