He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
