The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
