Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 This is the revelations from the Beneficent, Merciful God. 2 A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic for people who know. 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Those who practise not regular Charity, and who even deny the Hereafter. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
