The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
