Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
