Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send unto all cities heralds 111 That they may bring to thee every magician knowing. 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 for thou takest vengeance on us only because we have come to believe in our Sustainer's messages as soon as they came to us. O our Sustainer! Shower us with patience in adversity, and make us die as men who have surrendered themselves unto Thee!" 126
