He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
