Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 And We inspired Moosa that, “Put forth your staff”; it immediately began swallowing up their fabrications. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 And the magicians flung themselves prostrate. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the universe, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said: Ye believe in Him before I give you leave! Lo! this is the plot that ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive its people hence. But ye shall come to know! 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
