Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move! 14 Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
