The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
