I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But their nations broke their tasks into pieces; every group happy with what it has. 53 So leave them in their confusion for a time. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 And those who in the signs of their Lord do believe. 58 And those who do not associate (aught) with their Lord, 59 And those who give what they give and their hearts fear for they have to return to their Lord. 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And We tax not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers. 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or is it that you ask them a recompense? But the recompense of your Lord is best, and He is the best of those who provide sustenance. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
