When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people, 10 The people of Fir'awn; fear they Me not? 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said, "What is this: Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 Said Moosa, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers preceding you.” 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
