Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
