The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
