۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Are we then not to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
