The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he who confines it will surely come to grief. 10 The Thamud denied (the truth) in their perverseness 11 when the most wicked man among them rose up. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
