Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24

And We did not send a prophet in a town but We overtook its people with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. 94 Then We changed the misfortune into prosperity to the extent that they became numerous and said, "Indeed grief and comfort did reach our ancestors" - so We seized them suddenly in their neglect. 95 Had the people of the villages believed and been cautious, We would have opened upon them the blessings from heaven and earth. But they belied, and We seized them for what they earned. 96 Are the people of the region so secure that they lie asleep unaware as Our punishment overtakes them? 97 or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day? 98 Can they, then, ever feel secure from God's deep devising? But none feels secure from God's deep devising save people who are [already] lost. 99
