The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
