The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
