The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
