The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
