And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 You and your fathers? 76 "They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation." 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
