Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)

۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 its fruits are near. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
