Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 and covered them with torment. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). ۩ 62
