The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
