Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And We knowingly chose them, among all others of their time. 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 Indeed the Day of Decision is the appointment for all of them. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
