The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
