The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Hath the admonition been laid upon him from amongst us! Aye! he is a liar insolent. 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We shall send the she-camel to try them. So watch them, and be constant. 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
