The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
