Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they wish Us then to hasten the punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
