The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
