The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
