۞ And relate to them the account of the two men – to one We gave two gardens of grapes, and covered them with date-palms and kept farms between them. 32 Each of the gardens yielded its fruit and did not withhold the least; and We made a stream flow in between them. 33 And he had property. Then he said unto his fellow while he spake with him: I am more than thou in substance and am mightier in respect of retinue. 34 He went into his garden and wronging himself said, “I do not think that this will ever perish.” 35 Nor can I think that the Hour (of Doom) will come, And even if I am brought back to my Lord, I will surely find a better place there than this." 36 His companion said to him while disputing with him: Do you disbelieve in Him Who created you from dust, then from a small seed, then He made you a perfect man? 37 "But (I think) for my part that He is Allah, My Lord, and none shall I associate with my Lord. 38 “And why was it not that you would have said when you entered your garden, ‘Whatever Allah wills – we do not have any strength except with the help of Allah’ – if you had observed me lesser than you in wealth and children.”? 39 Yet it may be that my Lord will give me better than thy garden, and will send on it a bolt from heaven, and some morning it will be a smooth hillside, 40 Or some morning the water thereof will be lost in the earth so that thou canst not make search for it. 41 (Sure enough the rich person's) fruits were all destroyed and he began to wring his hands in grief for all that he had invested in his garden. He found his garden tumbled to its trellises and said, "Would that I had not considered anything equal to my Lord". 42 And there was no host, beside Allah, to help him, nor could he be of any help to himself. 43 The jurisdiction in this province belongs to God. His is the best reward, and His the best requital. 44
