The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
