The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
