Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
