۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In gardens of delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 What, do we then not die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
