The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
